On June 27, 2012, no mountain too high spoke with the Secretary of Industries of Pakistan's most populous province, Punjab. Secretary Dr. Shujad Ali, aware of the poverty that persists in a province with more than 90 million people, has last year supported Akhuwat by providing a 5-year Rs. 1 billion loan, and it is considering further support in the future.
Dr. Shujad Ali sent us a thank you email afterwards, from which we would like to quote the following lines:
- "It was a real pleasure to meet and exchange views with intellectually bright and balanced, culturally sensitive and good-hearted young men from the West like yourself. It is indeed rare to see young men so inspired and charged with a do gooding spirit that no mountain is too high against their will and determination."
- "Your interest in Akhuwat and its work as a workable model is much appreciated, especially given that some of its features do not sit well with the kind of economics that dominates thinking in your part of the world."
- "Your supportive observations about Akhuwat's strategic and managerial capacities vindicates us in the trust and confidence that we as a goverment have reposed in its capacities to deliver."
